WIP of an addon WAD for Brutal Doom I started working on earlier today that lets you use Rainbow Dash as a fart-gun in the vein of Mr. Toots.
Dashie looks more purple than normal because I had to apply Doom’s internal 256-color PLAYPAL palette in order to avoid a weird colors glitch or something. Modern source ports like Zdoom and GZdoom (AKA what I use) probably let you use more colors, but I am still a n00b at modding.
Plus I mostly gotta focus on brushing up on my leet ACS and DECORATE scripting skillz (which are not actually leet :/)

Eh, I just like BD’s plasma gun better than the vanilla version. The vanilla version was my least-favorite gun in the game because it just fired way too fast, and the firing noise was way too long for that rate of fire so it layered over itself and the effect was very abrasive on my ears. The Brutal Doom version fires slower and just feels more solid and powerful, and now it’s one of my favorite Doom weapons.
Original Doom doesn’t let you rip off the weapons your enemies use and turn them against them like the Mancubus’ Flamecannon or the Revenant’s Shoulder Rocket Launchers. Original Doom also doesn’t have alt firing modes or the best way to gain back health, RIP & TEAR!

Lol no. The base game will always outshine and be better ballanced than brutal doom. The only people who say that mod is batter than the original are millennial children.

Zdoom is enough smart. I tried making à lightsaber blade using png and it worked perfectly. No graphic glitches at all
Like advanced enough to understand gradient transparency, or just mask transparency so a sprite doesn’t have an ugly black square around it?
Nope, Zdoom reads png like any other program that can read png. No need to use palettes. This is pretty good for sprites that needs to have tons of colors. Zdoom even understand png’s transparency.
Really? That’s pretty cool. Do you need to specify anything using code to make the palettes match up and stuff, or does Zdoom just make it work automatically.
And that’s okay if it doesn’t work outside of that source port. I only use Zdoom anyways. Well GZdoom too, but only to play the latest most high-end WADs. I’m not the biggest fan of the newfangled OpenGL true-3D implementation of the original pseudo-3D binary space-partitioned levels. Which is why I prefer Zdoom for my own mods. I just downloaded the newest build.

It’s a mod that ups the gore, replaces the original Doom arsenal with much better redesigns, and allows you to do fatalities on the hellspawn. It’s really fun.
And now soon enough, the Doomguy will be able to pick up RD and squeeze out some real deadly gas lasers to kill enemies with rainbows.
