I usually prefer drawing her in her general kemonomimi form than the mlp-ish type form. But once in a while I like to try them in other fandom forms I love, though this drawing isn’t exactly MLP style in this pic, i’d have to practice it to get better, Sonic style is easiest to draw for me atm. >.<

That’s actually a really interesting timeline. As plenty of others must have said, it’s gaudy, but I like the fact that she’s gaudy for a reason.

Yeah I see what you mean. During my Ocs earlier times, she was an eyesore to many and I didn’t notice because I was so arty at the time with her, and I changed her designs/looks based on how I felt than how others did because i didn’t want that to influence me in the end. I got a lot of hate for her look til a little after 2011 where all calmed and went quiet. Then ppl enjoyed her with me.
 
I formed her based on a character that is completely different than others, I know she’s overdone but that’s the thrill of making her. She’s the only OC/person I have active and she represents of what i’d wish to be/look personally, reason I defend her greatly. I don’t use any other Ocs because i’m not RPing or anything (I quit 7 years ago). So I stick with one huge one that represents me in all ways. I had many ppl try to put me down to the point of saying “kill meself etc” because of her design but I always ignored and went with what I wanted since it’s my ideas in the end, reason I continue with her because she makes me feel great and unique. I get asked today how I can remember everything when drawing her.
 
I usually hear Sparkledog called out on canine ferals or anthros, but I haven’t ran into it being called for other species though til today. That’s why I questioned that.

Lol, I been down that road when I was in my teens, she use to have 6, didn’t like it after some time, so went from that to just making them bigger/detailed.

While I agree to a certain extent that you shouldn’t just not do something because someone doesn’t like it, there are a few things I have to contest with:
 
1.Things in anime and games that are very complex are usually so because it is meant to show they are very powerful or important. When they are overdesigned without reason(and sometimes even then), people usually do complain about it.
 
2.Sparkledog doesn’t just mean dog.
 
3.There is a difference between the arbitrary colors used for ponies and for this. Usually, the ponies have two or three main colors on them, and they tend to be either complements or around the same color range. Again, when they choose to use colors that clash on a pony, people tend not to like it there either. They also don’t usually have added accessories, and have much simpler designs than this. The Rainbow forms were disliked by many because they looked gaudy and over-designed.
 
It’s not like there’s not a good Idea in this, it’s just that when it comes to designing a character the ‘less is more’ approach is usually the better one. Bp definitely could have said it nicer, but the criticism isn’t unfounded.

Too bad for you I don’t care how ppl look at her design, might as well give up trying to convince me like many in the past “tried” to down on her because of her colors/design, saying she’s too much this, change her blah blah. She’s mainly viewed a humanoid/Kemonomimi, not a feral creature (unless in her true form or a side shapeshifts). I’m proud of her character, and nothing you say will change my mind or change who she is. She’s my personal beloved oc and always will be.
 
Also, there’s things in games and animes that’s more complex than her and they’re quite popular/successful. Complain to them.
 
(Ps: She’s no where near related to a canine or a dog lol, …If you hate things unusually colored then why be on here because there’s ponies and characters who are with rainbows and colors aswell.)

I see the sparkledog trend still lives, even more horrifying then it was.
 
Seriously, there is a line where you are over-designing and you crossed that line so far ago its not even visible to you anymore.
