I actually don’t have much experience with Blaze (in part because I don’t have a system that she’s on), but what I’ve encountered with fanfiction and TV Tropes does make her seem like an interesting character, though there is a bit of reconciliation to be had between two of the games, from what I’ve read (‘06 has her from the future, but in a handheld game she’s from an alternate reality or something?).
Aside from Shadow, my favourite Sonic character would probably be Ivo, really. Maybe Omega, but Ivo beats it by a hair (hah!).
It’d be interesting to have an entire Elseworld (or whatever) game where you’re playing as a heroic Dr. Robotnik trying to save the world from an evil Sonic or something. So you get to design the “levels” and boss fights. There’d have to be a Watsonian reason for the weak points and lack of impassable level design, though…
@Brothakyo
The limited lives really did me in, because I suck so bad that every time I got to those, I would fail and have to restart the level from the beginning, and they were never generous enough to start you at/close to them either.
Blaze is my favorite female Sonic character by a long shot, Shadow would be my favorite male and favorite overall. I admit I am a slight Shadow fangirl, I had more of a phase several years back, but it’s still there and could come out at a moment’s notice.
@LightningBolt
I start off each Mach speed section with a long drawn out sigh. Why was meant to feel like Sonic backfired horribly. I was mad Blaze didn’t get enough sections and even went as far as just make her “there, like, because.” <—Huge Blaze Fan.
@Brothakyo
I liked Sonic 06 as a whole, really, only thing I didn’t care much for was the mach speed sections (those sucked) or perhaps the fact that Tails’ only really attack is goddamned dummy rings, but aside from that, I enjoyed it rather well, especially Shadow and Silver’s parts, Blaze was also fun to play as. Shame that all modern games like to ignore everyone else in the series being playable, or to add insult to injury, make the only other playable character(s) another form of SONIC.

As per usual, I LOVED the soundtrack. If anything else, I’m super indifferent about the game. I guess it was just the XBox version which was glitched to all hell and the like. I may need to re-visit it.
Oddly, the one thing I loved about Sonic ‘06 (drawing straws) is Shadow’s campaign. I liked his aerial melee.
@Brothakyo
I actually rather enjoyed his game, though the guide book I got was wrong on one of the things I needed for 100% completion.
I figured out that the most appropriate path was Neutral->Evil->Good->Good->Good->Good (rather than the “pure good” path Sonic Team said was it). The reasoning thus: Level one, all Shadow wants is the Chaos Emeralds. When he gets them from the city, Black Doom gives Shadow a display of his power, so Shadow decides to listen to him in the second level. Then he meets Amy in the third level, who evokes a faint stirring of memory, so he follows her.
He then finds himself on the flying fortress Black Doom had him raise, and he discovers that Ivo is nearby, whom he knows had something to do with his history because of Sonic Heroes. He assists in bringing down the armada in hopes of getting answers and to make up for waking it up in the first place. He then goes into space, where a race with Sonic begins to jar his memory loose even further, and they all go to the Black Comet together, where he confronts Black Doom, his memories returned.
This also puts him on the comet for the Final Episode.
(I’m huge into stories, and I hope you don’t mind me explaining my headcanon.

Shadow was such a great character with how he was displayed in SA2, it was painful when we wound up with who he was…. …in his own game (he’s actually one of the few redeeming qualities in Sonic ’06)
My first experience with SA2B was where Shadow became my favourite Sonic character.
Basically, my friend had borrowed a GC and SA2B from someone else (but no memory card; there were other games, but that’s the one I remember most vividly). He knew that I wanted to play as Sonic, so he kept taking him, leaving me with Shadow.
Having no idea what I was doing, I just constantly mashed the B-Button powers and won every time. It was quite a while later (a year or so I think) before I played the game proper and still quite liked Shadow (I also ship ShadAmy).
I remember playing Sonic 2 against my little brother and we both usually did pretty well. When we were first starting out though, I’d hit the monitor for switching positions right before the end of a level, and then I’d feel bad.
The Sonic 3 multiplayer was fun though it was just obstacle courses.
Wow my idea of Sonic multiplayer experiences is a little outdated.
That is indeed true, tho her alternate universe backstory is considered the ‘canon’ one overall in all media.

I liked his game too, in fact I adored it, right down to the soundtrack. Damn I love those vocal songs.

I kinda want to play the game again, now…)

Don’t feel bad, I used to do the same thing in Sonic 2 when I was a wee lad.
And in SA2, I’d wait until hot a checkpoint and then die and spawn there.
