I like this. This kind of thing is the reason people tend to dislike guys like Leonardo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cyclops of the X-Men or even someone like Optimus Prime. Good guys who follow the rules are dull, boring and bland.
Meanwhile, tough guys like Raphael, Wolverine or Grimlock? Guys who do whatever they want and fuck the consequences? Those guys are awesome! Leo wants to hold back and observe? Screw that, Raphael will get in there and kick some ass! Cyclops wants to come up with a plan? Shit, who has time for that? Just get Wolverine in there and watch him rip things up! Optimus wants to defend, build up his forces and wait for an opportunity? He’s a fucking coward; Grimlock will rush forward and make the opportunity, no matter how many Autobots get killed trying to follow him!
It’s like in the Transformers IDW comics. No one would’ve said Prowl was their favourite character when all he did was logically plan and point out the best course of action. But once IDW Prowl is revealed to be a completely amoral chessmaster who casually dismisses lives as expendable and boasts that he’s always looking far, far ahead? People love him.
Why isn’t simply being a good person not enough?
Oh, I didn’t realize the show/movie staff writes these blurbs for the Hasbro website; thanks for the information!
Kinda agree with you there, besides they dont have a good basis to start with so how could they have turned that in a good way. It’s impossible
Also those Flash toys are probably going to follow the Ghostbusters 2016 action figure in the clearance bin anyway.Nice waste of money
I’ve already pointed this out elsewhere, but the only reason most people find Flash bland is just like how people find Celestia bland: neither lend themselves to extremes and that makes them “bland”. People latch on to or create an extreme characteristic in order to lend itself to something “fun” with them.
That’s why Octavia isn’t just a cello player, she’s a posh clean freak pony who follows just about every posh stereotype. With Vinyl be the exact opposite. People created extremes so you can clash them against each other.
Flash has several character traits but they aren’t pushed to an extreme that would make him butt heads with others without both being negative. Why do you think so many latched onto his emotionally controlled dick behavior? It wasn’t just out of hatred, it was a point where his personality had an extreme to it. Being “normal” is bland.
It’s funny how someone finds his ridiculous blandness as a good thing. Guess people don’t really need Flash’s character development after all, okay then.
Do you expect him to not be a perfect gentleman? Chivalry is an obvious and shown character trait - his introduction was freaking helping Twilight stand up. One of the coolest kids? No duh, that’s why Sunset used him. You’re treating it like completely new info.
Hell, it’s practically no different than those Mane 6 character introductions done before season 5 - this is just in text form.
>perfect gentleman
>chivalry
>coolest dude in da crib yo
This is a fucking overkill even for such Gary Stu as Flash.
Maybe they tried to highlight his “traits” as you said, but they so overdid it, it’s goddamn laughable, like some caricature. They didn’t even try to add some new and believeable trait.
What did you freaking expect them to put? “Flash when left alone will go on a murder spree and kill everyone so he can have their waifus”? Dude, the point of these are to highlight goood characteristics of the character.
A-ha. A-ha-ha-ha. You write this copy yourself, Flash?
I guess that’s debatable. Still, sans Twilight.
Was he talking to any of them specifically? I remember the scene where he asked them if Twilight was coming, but I think he was speaking to them as a group.
Rainbow, Sunset, and Applejack in “Rainbow Rocks”.
Edited
This would be a cool trait if it was ever actually used. Seriously besides Twilight has he even said two words to any of them?
Edited
Exactly my point.
Except that he is cool and the guys that hate him are the ones that wear the fedoras. Really, only fedora wearing bronies hate him.
