I’ve noticed that too. Never knew there was a biological/evolutionary reason for this.

it’s a common artistic error to draw hands too small. the reason is neurological, that our brains have a much larger neural map for visually analyzing heads and faces, than hands. your hand is (close to) as long as your head is tall. but since you’re hard wired to not pay attention to what hands look like, the hands don’t seem like they could possibly be as big. any new artists: please, please, please draw hands that are too large. you can easily correct yourself if you’re drawing them too big, but if you draw them too small, you might not even have the brain to notice it.

Even when I was in basic in the Army, there were a couple numbskulls actually gesturing with their weapons. Not smart. So yeah, was just joking, but gun safety definitely isn’t a joke.

Addition: The guy who aimed the rifle at me, I thought, pointed it at my head too. He may have just been 12 and me at the age of 10 but it’s a “Don’t do that” moment.
