overall I’m glad we moved past it as well, but the romhacks (as well as the emulators) are so much more finicky, especially with the touchscreens on everything these days. I tried a DS emulator once and I ended up controlling my movement with my right foot so I could keep my right hand on the mouse at all times.
I’m glad we moved past it. Gen 5 tried to keep the sprite aesthetic going and it looked like ass when they tried to keep them animated which INSTANTLY made it look dated and low-rez/low-quality. The whole game in retrospect feels like someone hacked an alpha version of X&Y that still had strictly tile-locked movement and pasted low rez .gif animations over the actual models.
