Twilight will probably go the “Disney’s Hercules” route and choose to be normal, but I think Celestia just meant that she’ll be learning stronger spells that unicorn ponies hardly bother to learn.

Willing to be her final test is undertaking whatever task that allows a pony to ascend. If she succeeds, she joins the pantheon. If not, she lives the rest of her life normally… if there aren’t severe repercussions for failure.

While I think that the status of Celestia and Luna is one of those things that works better with less explanation, I think that they are more pony-shaped than actual ponies.

That assumes Twicorn would get an extended lifespan. Given that Twilight herself was unaware that Celestia is over a thousand years old, it seems unlikely that immortality comes with the wings.

I really think that could be a hint at another episode. Maybe she’s ordered by Princess Celestia to send him off or something, and she has to make a choice.
