Actually, everyone in this comic gets red eyes when the evil spring water takes effect (with the possible exception of NMM?). They didn’t show Vinyl’s eyes before she got splashed, so we don’t really know which color they would have used normally.

I’m half-certain I’m the only one who cares, but this comment contains an inside joke. KOS-MOS from Xenosaga changes her eye colour whenever she becomes Mary Magdelene. :3

Yeah, I think that’s what made it more ironic, it took that long before people started complaining about it…
 
I remember this one odd guy on DA called ProfessorMegaman, or something used to always make rants about how bad the green eyes are, and how they make Sonic look “freaky & souless.” They’re both painful & amusing to read.  
He also wants writer Ian Flynn fired off the Megaman comic, mostly for making original stories in-between the game adaption arcs… (Yeah, ’cause Megaman blowing up Robot Masters, and doing nothing else is very amusing.)  
He even made a petition to get him fired, which hilariously only has ONE signiture.

Ah, that may be exactly why I didn’t hear of it until Sonic 4. I suppose I didn’t find out what green eyes drama was and when it began because I couldn’t have cared less. :j

Funny thing is, at first some bronies actually WERE upset over her canon eye color not matching the fanon one.

Strangely the “green eyes drama” didn’t really start ‘till later, or became widespread until shortly before “Sonic 4:Ep.1” came out.  
Richard Kuta, & Nicochi helped start it, but ironically now they’re both shunned by the Sonic fanbase. Even by those that also prefer “Classic Sonic.”

I think she looks cooler with Red Eyes, personally. However I think she looks alright with the purple/magenta color too, and unlike a certain video game fanbase I won’t throw a bitchfit over her eye color being different either.

I think I prefer the magenta/purple eyes personally. They oddly still use the fanon red eyes in the comic, which this is apparently spoofing.
