MLP has a little edge, most smart cartoons nowadays do but nothing compares to the innuendo of the 90’s
You mean like in “Rocko’s Modern Life” when they did the phone sex joke? Or Julie Bruin from “Tiny Toon Adventures?” Or the famed “Finger prints” joke from “Animaniacs.”
MLP:FiM in some ways feels like a ’90s show, and not just because of the edgy subtle gags.
Why else would she keep getting herself tied up on adventures and not break out until the last moment? :P
I know, I grew up in the 90’s. It’s good to still see a show nowadays where they can blend those references in without being glaring obvious (most of the time), and have a good story. Those were the days….
