Yeah… things like this make me remember that Equestria makes Australia look like Disney Land.
 
Imagine if whatever planet Equestria’s on (let’s just call it Terra or Gaia for simplicity) was real, and we had the tech to reach the place and establish a colony.
 
Establishing said colony would be fucking brutal, what with the dangerous artifacts, even more dangerous wildlife that arrive straight out of humanity’s fever dreams and night terrors aka our mythology, and physical gods that seem to go utterly mental on a yearly basis- oh wait. They do.
 
In simple terms, never colonize Gaia/Terra/Whateverthefuck unless you want to kill a lot of people.

Interesting! I hope you one day find the motivation to draw them! After all, if Kalianne is jealous of Milky, I can’t imagined how flustered she’d get if two other snakeponies moved into town.

Heh, I was thinking earthtones for the constrictors, warning colors for the venomous ones, and patterns on the scales for the hypnotists.

I sort meant if there were physical differences between the three races. Like, giving the hypnotists rattles or hoods, and giving the constrictors, I dunno, marks around their eyes like anacondas.

Basically in my continuity it boils down to whether the species has adapted to use contriction, venom, or hypnosis to hunt. It’s sort of like the earth pony/pegasis/unicorn kind of thing with regular ponies. It sort of boils down to this:  
Contriction: Strong coils, weak venom, no hypnotic ability.  
Venom: Average coils, strong venom, no hypnotic ability.  
Hypnotism: Weak coils, weak to no venom, strong hypnotic ability.
 
(I figured since hypnosis is such a powerful ability I’d nerf their other abilities more)
 
There’s also sort of an “irregulars” category where Maredusa and Milky fall, since they have specialized abilities. The former can petrify, and the latter has a “unique” food source and method of acquiring it (technically speaking she’s 100% harmless) :P

Mist isn’t really a character, she’s more of a mascot. Actually, she IS a mascot, flat out! She’s the mascot of the Lamia Pony group on Deviantart. So, she’s more of a “exotic lamia stand-in” than anything, taking on whatever personality or powers the artist wishes. I’ve just been drawing her recently because I adore her design.
 
However, if Kalianne is only one species of snakepony in your continuity, and Milky is a venom-type as well, I’m curious to see how you’d portray the other two types.

Well… in a world of OCD unicorns, alicorns, and where you can buy superpowering artifacts from shops that give you the power to OVERWHELM said unicorns and alicorns, they’re not that scary by comparisen. They could seriously fuck you up, but so could Twilight Sparkle, or Starlight Glimmer, or Discord, or Spike, or any of the princesses, all of whom roam free and aren’t very terrifying.
 
Besides, Kalianne is, and always will be, a gentle loving marshmallow rope.
 
I honestly don’t know about Mist and how lamias work in her continuity so I won’t draw parallels, but in mine as far as lamias go Kalianne’s, being one with powerful venom, has strength that’s about average: weaker than constrictors but stronger than ponies that use hypnosis.

Actually Mist, and the lamias of her universe like Ruby etc, are as strong as Kalianne, Mist likely being stronger, they can crush… Whatever they coil, if Mist wanted to Bolt could be bent 20 different ways, our lamias just like to toy with their victims.
 
Also the hypnosis works that if you can see it, it can affect you so scattering it would probably make it more potent and Mist could… You know… Take the suit off. XD Also, why would you resist her, she just wants to snuggle…
 
Maybe nom your ear a little… Then your head and- yeah alright run.

It honestly doesn’t matter how long Kalianne or Mist are.
 
It matters how fucking terrifying both of them are.
 
Kalianne is strong enough to effortlessly shatter a coffee cup, and the fact that there was still coffee in the cup (we’ll assume it was freshly brewed) means Kalianne’s scales are also strong enough to make temperatures of up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit a mild inconvenience rather than the human response of FUCK FUCK OW FUUUUUUUU-
 
Meanwhile, Mist’s coils are nowhere near as strong; I’m fairly certain it takes a bit of effort on her part to massage a pony into submission, which means that she would only be strong enough to kill small prey. Though some representations of Mist vary, I believe her to be as stoic as an Easter Island statue, thus remedying the other interpretations (one being where she coiled three adult stallions into near-asphyxiation.) I can only imagine how sore she was the next day.
 
But, that’s where the similarities end. It’s fairly obvious that, both in the real world and the MLP universe, Mist and Kalianne are seperate subspecies of snake/lamia. Kalianne is based on the Malaysian blue coral snake, IIRC, which is a highly venomous type of snake (and, as such, doesn’t coil at all. YOU FUCKED UP, SQUISH.), whereas Mist is based on a Burmese python, which is known for it’s ability to easily cut off circulation to an adult human’s arm via coiling.
 
In MLP, however, we can infer that Kalianne’s lamia subspecies has adapted to coiling alongside potent venom to more easily kill large prey, as larger food sources would be necessary to fuel such a large frame.
 
Mist’s subspecies, in contrast, adopted biological magic (possibly related to timberwolves??) to use hypnosis, and have a near constant, hypnotic pheromone fog fuming from glands beneath the scales. Likely, this was used as a more passive method of hunting, allowing members of Mist’s subspecies to easily overpower large prey without overexerting themselves.
 
It also helps that it has… unintentional social benefits with the other sapient species on whatever planet Equestria exists on.
 
As such, defenses against the two are as follows:
 
Mist - EOD or some kind of pressure resistant suit, gas mask, and light absorbing or scattering sunglasses (I’m under the assumption that lamia hypnosis magic relies on light, rather than direct eye contact)
 
Kalianne - A fucking armored car.

Not really. Most ponies are only 3ft tall. I’d peg this lamia at around 30-35 ft long.
