Never noticed it, but Apple Spice does kinda have Apple Bloom’s colors. Too bad she and G3 Applejack were background ponies.

Different idea: The mane 6 get worried by the CMC’s increasingly dangerous adventures when trying to acquire their cutie marks. So they hire lookalikes to pose as future versions of themselves to assure them that they don’t need to go on these dangerous adventures and that their cutie marks will appear in time. Unfortunately the CMC sees through the ruse. Mostly due to Scootaloo’s future self being an Earth Pony.

Mainly Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. Everything has changed.

Future CMC: “We’re you from the future!”  
CMC: “What happened to our manes!?”

The CMC are horrified by the G3 ponies that count as their counterparts.
