I feel that when Luna was cured herself, knowing that Twilight would probably see through her Nightmare Moon ruse when offered the cure secretly, she had Pinkie set up the trap so with Twilight convinced that she had outsmarted all of them, she would be completely vulnerable and off-guard to the trap instead.
 
Smart thinking, Luna. Use the element of surprise when your opponent has let down their guard due to being so smug that they’ve won already.

Except the entire problem is solved at breakneck speed across the entire town without any real imagination into the plans. Luna was somehow faking it despite obviously getting hit with the water, anything hyped was dead in a a page, and last pages are the obvious “no chance of this being referenced ever again”.

Technically Luna was not pretending at the beginning. Also evil Twilight said this. She was really become again Nightmare Moon, but then she is healed thanks to the rain of cure caused by Rainbow Dash. After the rain she began to faking.

It may have been rushed, but at least it was slightly better than last issue IMO. So I think this arc was okay. Better than 2 of Katie Cook’s last 2-part arcs.

Yeah, this comic arc was just a massive pile of nothing but potential.
 
Wasted potential at that.
 
Fluttershy’s building an army to attack Ponyville! But doesn’t.
 
Rarity vs. Twilight! For one panel.
 
Applejack and Rainbow Dash are evil! And overall contribute nothing.
 
Nightmare Moon! Except not really.
 
Not that I wanted the arc in the first place, but one more issue to actually do something would’ve been helpful to not make it so much of a rushed mess.

I rather like this one. They didn’t “Deus Ex” Twilight, they just used her biggest weakness against her. She’s so focused on perfection that something spontaneous and random will always catch her by surprise.
 
And the show has shown that to be effective against her consistently.
