my little pony tales: never watched it myself but from what i gather, it had a bunch of adolescent ponies at school walking on their hind legs and gossiping about boys

Ok yes this is somewhat true, there was a heavy crushing on boys angle to a few episodes it wasn’t like it was every single one. Tales actually had an ongoing relationship in it between the characters Teddy and Sweetheart that actually developed and grew, as much a it could in a early 90s girls show. However most of the episode where focused on the girls doing silly slice of life things really.

While it isn’t nearly as good as ‘n Friends when it comes to story IMO (though one or two come close, and peoples milage may vary) it’s strong point is in it’s characters and the potential I think the show had. You could see them setting up things and they had characters come back and change and develop but it was either squandered by the writers themselves or, more likely, by what was expected of that kind of show at the time and other production things (and being canceled).

You realize that the quotation marks were merely a show of sarcasm.

I’m very aware of what gen 1 is. I know what all the previous generations had in terms of plot development. G1.5(or G2 as some called it) was probably the one that was more based on modern society as opposed to many of the other series.

I see, but (s)he was also talking abut ‘furry’ chars.
I like those two OCs you put in there (don’t forget Papyra [need more of her]). Those OCs fit very well in. (unlike 95% of all usual OCs)

my little pony existed for years before friendship is magic, as far as i know there was:

generation 1: a mainly adventure series with a human named Megan, and several villains. tirec, the smooze, and catrina, all originated here

generation 2: no cartoon series, just the toys that the cartoons were meant to advertise

my little pony tales: never watched it myself but from what i gather, it had a bunch of adolescent ponies at school walking on their hind legs and gossiping about boys

generation 3: very girly series wit things like tea party’s, dances, picnics, and everyone being declared a princess.

generation 3.5: like generation 3 but even more nauseatingly sweet, and boring

generation 4: friendship is magic, the show that most people are familiar with

keep in mind that i only have passing knowledge of the other generations, so some of that might not be fully factual
