yes you are right but depending on the language, translation and idioms change. The “ in person” is one of many examples of simplification in the show.

The Mistake
In person actually means this: In one’s physical presence; personally.
 
Doesn’t actually pertain to just humans, it just happens to have the word person in it.
 
Also, in pony doesn’t make sense grammatically. Seriously people.

Imagine how silly it would sound to replace every single instance of the word, like “in pony”, or “ponynal”. Besides, by all accounts they’re just pony-shaped people anyway.
