Celestia enjoys being the doting (grand)aunt and regaling the kids with tales of her and their mothers’ exploits, like the time their mom took on an Ursa-Minor. It also gives the parents a nice break every once in a while.

The parents will probably be nice but siblings can be cruel especially other children and adults. And if he says screw it and runs off it will follow him childhood trauma never goes away. And he will probably be the most edgy and self hating teen ever
Fist off, given who his parents and aunts are, I highly doubt they would actually let him grow up like that. Second, it’s still an advantage because if on the off chance he DID, he also has the option of going ‘screw this, I’m out’ when he’s of age.

Lol normal life of being endlessly compared to his siblings? Always feel inferior? Never being able to do magic like his mother’s and siblings? Being teased for not being an alicorn? Growing old and dying while no one else in his family is and becoming a fleeting memory possibly even forget? Sounds like a normal healthy childhood to me

Yeah, but at least Pterus gets the option of getting to have a normal life while being himself if he wants. His cousins/sibs don’t get that option since alicorns tend to stand out.
We are designed to spread our genes. Adoptive children will always take second place logically
Some biological children weren’t wanted, meanwhile certain parents searched for quite a while to adopt a child. So it depends.
Think of the bat pony sibling growing old and dying while all his family stays young
Given the mare/stallion ration of Equestria…it could be. Then there’s the fact that the only other alicorn mares are either his parents, aunts, cousins, or siblings…
But is that reeeally a bad thing?
