Description

Up to the result, Sunset’s and Twilight’s boards are completely identical, so I’m assuming they’re both right.
The formula right above the result says 30+X = (180-80)/2 = 50, which means that X = 50-30, and somehow Sunset got everything right but that subtraction.

It is, but I still want to know if the math is correct of if it’s just a bunch of mumbo jumbo thrown up made to look like a coherent math problem. I could throw my old physics HW up there and no-one could tell if it was legit or fake.

No, Sunset just made an arithmetic error at the end of an algebraic computation. It happens. Twilight Sparkle didn’t, so she wins the contest.

I’m presuming there was more than a single question asked. It might have been a math bee, with the first wrong answer giving an elimination. When you’re solving at speed, it’s easy to make minor mistakes.
