Description

So I saw a tweet this morning from Andrea Libman about how she accidentally drank milk this morning that just barely reached its expiration date. So I had to do a funny drawing based on the incident with everybody’s favorite pink screwball, Pinkie Pie. Since Andrea voices her I think she feels her pain.

True, but in my experience milk expiration dates in particular are wildly inconsistent; sometimes it’s totally fine a few days later, sometimes it’s a little sketchy on the expiration date, and sometimes it’s gone completely bad a week beforehand. Really wish they’d get a handle on that.

Also heavily depends on the type of foodstuff and how lax the company packaging it makes the dates. The way and item is shipped and how long it takes to get to the store also play into this as well as how they are stored and how long they sit on the shelves! Some grocers are a lot better at keeping food well maintained on selves then others.

Iv had items go bad long before the expiration date as well as long after. The dates are at best a suggestion and at worse entirely bloody wrong.

Contrary to popular belief, expiration dates are by and large very misrepresentative of the actual state of foods. The reason they have them to begin with is for the product to remain at its utmost “fresh” rather than an absolute for it to go bad or rotten.

If you eat food or drink milk the day of, or even a few days after, expiration you won’t die or get sick. So long as you properly store said products you can still have those foods after the expiration date.

How can an expiration date be from last month? Will it still be from last month a month from now?
