The outside is clouds, on the inside we clearly see floors and stairs and columns and furniture that are not clouds. And except for wealthy people I’ve never seen columns inside a house.

Her house is made of clouds. I can’t imagine that salvaged or stolen building materials would be hard to come by.

By having many children, parents of Sky Stinger should be sure that they are safe. As it is very likely that one child gets out of his sight for a few moments while caring for others (as happened with Sky Stinger), it is more safer for them to have their house on the ground. Besides, at least his children is still a baby.

Her dad probably bought it or built it. Her house isn’t in canterlot and now I’m forming a head cannon that rainbow dad is a master cloud constructor and built a house for his one kid to go live near her friends.

Economically fitting. More kids, less money, and vice versa.
 
About Rainbow living in a house way too damn big for one pony, no idea. One’d expect it’d have been explained long ago, especially because I’d hazard Faust first designed her house, but whatever, lol. Obviously, giving her parents an episode will undoubtedly require more exposition concerning her house. At this stage, only four pairs out of eight are left to make an appearance: Rainbow’s, Applejack’s, Scootaloo’s, and Spike’s. So, it could be worse. :3
 
…Actually, it probably is, since if they explore Celestia’s and Cadance’s parents as well, they’ll be required to detail some things like Celestia’s birth country and Cadance’s village. Eh, well, worse isn’t the right word. I just decided to use the worst segue possible. XD

I think that would be interesting for a fanfic of these two.

Something’s telling me that Rainbow Dash comes from a rather well-off family (maybe not as loaded as Diamond Tiara’s, but enough to chip in for her big fancy house in Ponyville). Hope we’ll have an episode about it someday, now that Fluttershy’s been covered.

Cloudsdale is for upper class pegasi. Manehattam for upper class Earth Ponies and Canterlot for upper class Unicorns.
 
Maybe those three were the Capital Cities of the times of the Three Tribes (before the unification of Equestria) and the pegasi, Earth Ponies and Unicorns that didn’t want to live among the other tribes, and were richer, stayed there while the others went and founded smaller cities where different tribes lived together?

I get the vibe that “cloudy” Cloudsdale was always an upper class suburbia. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy’s family fit the trope for it.
