Page 566 - Chrono Chrys, Part 1Daylight Savings Time has started, which means the site’s back in the PDT timezone and the comic updates an hour later for everyone else.So. The mini-arc. Nine double-length pages coming at you using the first arc of the official comic series instead of official show screencaps as the source material.I have a lot of anxieties about this temporary changeup, not the least of which being that this feels more like plagiarism than ever. With the show, there are many dozens of people involved with the writing and animation. But with the comics, putting aside bureaucratic oversight, there’s like five. I’m overwriting Katie Cook’s script. I’m covering up Andy Price’s art and Heather Breckel’s colors with extra text boxes. When it’s that personal, and I like their content so much, I can’t help but feel a little guilty.Ultimately, what pushes me through that is my lengthy experience with remix culture, of which this is merely another part. All I can hope is to live up to the source as best I can, by doing a decent job putting a spin on things that you guys enjoy.So. This mini-arc. Hope you like it.

Note: The next week…
DM: Today’s session begins one bright, lovely morning in Ponyville, where something… strange is happening. One by one, ponies in town have changed their attitudes radically, becoming stilted and cold, their eyes staring ahead lifelessly.
Applejack: Oh boy. It’s the body-snatcher plot today.
DM: That’s a little presumptuous, don’t you think?
Fluttershy: Is this like “The Thing?” I mean, I don’t really watch horror, but that’s the one I’ve heard of…
Pinkie Pie: Betcha it’s more like “Pod People.” Man, I love cheesy horror flicks! Especially when they have all these dumb subplots to try and make you relate with the awful characters, and they end up taking half the movie! Ooh, now I wanna watch some MSTies. Horror with a side order of riffing!
Twilight Sparkle: Um, girls? Maybe we should focus on the growing horde of… well, not-ponies all around us? Maybe?
DM: Oh, you mean the ones heading towards you? Right now?
Fluttershy: B-But what if we’re affected too and don’t realize it? What if one of us has…
Twilight Sparkle: No time for that! Run!
Rainbow Dash: I was gonna say “beat up the whole town,” but…
DM: Roll Athletics to flee the horde.
Rarity: Can I roll Thievery on the infected first, or…?
Pinkie Pie: Where’s Mike and the bots when you NEED them?!
Well egg is on my face. I’m unfamiliar with that.
Wrong transformative subgenre. This isn’t an abridged series, it’s a campaign comic. (Caution: TV Tropes link.)
