I still remember part of the “Thumbelina” song, but only because it was featured in the trailer that was on the VHS tape of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and I watched that movie endlessly.

i have, i can’t remember when but it wasn’t that long ago. back then, it was on the Tv & thought i might just see what it’s like & honestly, i knd of liked it. i don’t watch Disney princess stuff but i got to admit Tangled was pretty decent.

Yeah, he’s usually not much of a modern CGI Disney fan. He used to be an animator for Disney, so he has some respect for them though.  
Admittedly, I haven’t seen “Tangled” yet.
 
Hope “Dragon’s Lair” gets finished too. He’s pretty old now, so it might end up being his last movie.

Well hopefully he gets to make “Dragon’s Lair: the Movie” and go out with a bang…also I find it interesting that Don Bluth absolutely loved Disney’s Tangled.

It was on a message board, I believe. I still respect Faust, but I agree it was uncalled for… Especially, ‘cause Don Bluth is one of my favorite animated director/animators/artists, and I feel it’s criminal he hasn’t gotten to make any new features in nearly 2 decades.
 
Ironically, the “Disnification” of Bluth’s ‘90s movies (which soiled his legacy, and are why he hasn’t gotten much work) wasn’t even his doing, as it was executive-meddling that forced them to become more cliché. (In fact, he hated how “Pebble and the Penguin” turned out, he took his name off of it.) Something you’d think Faust (whom misblamed him) would understand…  
As I said watch his last movie “Titan A.E.” it is very un-Disney-like, and surprisingly more grown-up then most of his movies.
 
I assume Faust, and her husband Craig aren’t big Bluth fans. (But don’t quote me on that, as I dunno for sure.)  
I kinda suspect the character “Euro’ Trish” from “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” (great show, don’t get me wrong) was kinda poking fun at Don Bluth, “An American Tail,” and such.  
(Frankly, “An American Tail” is one of my favorite childhood movies, despite it’s brief video sequelitis, which wasn’t Bluth’s fault. In fact, Bluth hates the video sequels to his movies as much as his fans do. “Fievel Goes West” wasn’t bad though.)
 
Dexter’s Laboratory also poked fun at Bluth’s failed “A Troll in Centeral Park” (even Bluth regrets that movie) with the character “Koozie” whom was even voiced by Dom Deluise.
 
While some of it may just be playful riffing amongst themselves, it’s kinda sad that Bluth gets almost no respect in the animation industry… Especially, ‘cause I hear he’s a nice guy, and actually is helping teach future animators, and cartoonists.

“Dragon’s Lair” never had any prior “movies.” It was a cinematic scene-based arcade game originally. They had a kickstarter for it, and met their goal, so they’re apparently independently producing a new movie.  
Kinda a shame Bluth hasn’t gotten to work on any for 16 years (Not to mention, “Titan A.E.” was a great, and very underrated movie. Surprisingly a bit “grown up” too.) apparently ‘cause the animation industry hated his later ‘90s movies, (which all failed) and sullied his career, and reputation… (And as I said before, the problems those movies had weren’t even his fault, and executive-meddling to make them less dark then his earlier works, and more “Disney-like.” In fact, Bluth hated how “Pebble & the Penguin” turned out so much, he had his name removed from it.) I hear he’s a nice guy IRL too, so he doesn’t deserve it. :(
 
Even Lauren Faust herself took a shot at him, I recall when she was discussing “Quest for Camelot” (which she worked on, and considers an “old shame”) on some website years back, she called the movie “as bad as Bluth’s ‘90s movies,” and further poored salt on it stating “If they wanted a bad Disney rip-off, they should’ve just had Don Bluth direct it.”  
I love Faust, but that was rather nasty of her to say that, and it’s rather disrespectful to a fellow animator/director. (Especially, considering all the executive-meddling she’s familiar with putting up with, much like Bluth had to.)  
Watch “Titan A.E.,” and you’ll see how “Un-Disney-like” Bluth can be sometimes.
 
At least his ’80s movies are still quite beloved. (Despite the overabundance of “Land Before Time” sequels, which he also had nothing to do with.) And honestly, I actually still enjoyed his later ‘90s movies despite their faults. (Loved “Rock-a-Doodle” when I was little, even if it was a bit weird, but it was unique.)
 
As far as I hear, in the past 16 years, Don’s been doing ok, helping teach animation, and giving advice to budding animators, which is very nice on his part.

maybe not, but I still think she looks adorable in the dress (& if I do this again, i’ll probably think more about Shy’s hair (the fringe, anyway)).  
I ain’t familiar much of Dragon’s Lair (I have heard of it though) but is it really getting another movie? I mean, the last BD movie was Titan A.E. that was back in 2000. what is Don Bluth doing these days?

Not one of Bluth’s best, (though, I don’t blame him, as the “Disneyfication” of his ‘90s movies was the fault of the executives) but cute dress.
 
Glad he’s finally going to get to make a new movie, a Dragon’s Lair one too! (In glorious 2D animation.)
