Well, if it matters, thousands upon thousands of Syrians died in their civil war last year, and Turkey and Europe were basically turned into testing grounds for suicide bombers. Believe me, it’s not just the US I’m thinking of.

2016 was great. The living standards of literally billions of third and second worlders in Africa and Asia continued to increase, and that outweighs anything that happened in America, a country of only 300 million.
 
Narendra Modi has reduced corruption in the Indian bureaucracy. If corruption in just one part of government, the Food-for-the-poor system, was reduced by just 5%, that would have saved enough human lives to easily outweigh every single terror attack in 2016. The Chinese middle class continues growing at the normal rate, which means the world has much less poverty than in 2015. Democracy in America might be stumbling under the weight of it’s own corruption, but it is slowly growing ever more certain, less corrupt, and true for hundreds of millions of Africans, which means democracy on Earth is stronger and more prevalent then it was in 2015.
 
The vast majority of the teeming masses of Humanity have had their current and future prospects continue to increase in 2016, but Americans are egotistical enough to say that the year is horrible just because their tribe didn’t win the election.

The Cubs finally win the World Series, and everybody’s clamoring to have it retconned. Poor guys just can’t catch a break :(

2016 was great for me. Finished my studies, moved back to the town I group up in and reconnected with old family and friends, got a job and to top it all off I got a few kickass Trixie moments this season.
 
Almost makes me wish I could change my name to Mr.Happy.

2016 was a mixed bag for me. Certainly one of the busiest years in my life, so I’ll probably remember it fondly as time goes on.
