Well, not that experienced, I learned the very basics of metalworking, using tools like a spot welder, electric welding, a forge and an anvil, bending pipes and a Lathe (or draaibank as it is called in the Netherlands) and several other things.
 
Then did not do anything with it ever again so my knowledge is hopelessly outdated.
 
The first thing we learned however was to work safely and use protection like welding gloves, leather aprons, hearing protection, safety and welding glasses and respect the machines we were working with as some could quite literally kill you or give you a lot of pain.
 
I still feel the pain in my hands though from some projects, like making a small steel cube that was perfectly straight and of equal size by hand. :D

Yeah, it’s cute but not very realistic.
 
When I was around 13-15 or so I was in a school where I learned to work with metal.
 
Learning to make decorative objects from sheet metal, by cutting, bending, and hammer forging it into shape, I also learned to forge metal rods, welding of steel plates and molding cast iron objects.
 
My lower arms, hands and unprotected parts of my face used to have small specks of metal in them from all the forging and welding, despite the fact that I wore thick leather gloves that covered my lower arms, the hot metal just burned through the leather and into my skin.
 
I’m pretty sure this little pony needs a body covering mantle and hood, ear and eye protection, specially if she holds the hammer in her mouth and having a very high risk of getting sparks / molten metal into her eyes, not to mention having her ears that close to the (VERY LOUD) anvil.
 
(Darn computer games, you can’t just collect metal and plastic and then magically turning it into a weapon somehow, it requires skill and years of training.)

That tail is uncomfortably close to the fire and she should wear a thick (leather) apron to protect herself against hot metal sparks.
 
An equally thick hood to protect her ears and head while she’s forging the metal and hearing protection would be mandatory as well, specially if she does the pony thing of holding the hammer in her mouth. :-)
 
Personally I think a Unicorn would be better suited for the job as she can keep her distance from hot metal and fire while working the metal and hammering it using telekinesis.
