Another problem is, some random anon’ we don’t know who, (according to the mods it’s one guy) keeps mass uploading tons of Sonic & Pony crossover pics here (mostly mediocre or badly drawn ones) on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, which has also contributed to the Sonic-hate here on Derpibooru. Sometimes even decent or good ones get downvoted just for being a part of the “spam” unfortunately.
 
People who hate Sonic also refuse to filter the Sonic the Hedgehog tags (so they don’t have to see said images here that they hate) because they’re too fat & lazy too. ;)

Half the internet hates Sonic, it’s just a fact we have to deal with. He’s become one of those touchy & controversial “love ‘em or hate ‘em” characters/series. It’s very hard to find anyone more “neutral” on the series.

Reasons for the hate differ, but usually it’s because his more recent games ever sense going 3D have gotten mixed opinions, or downright hatred. So some hate him for reasons like “his new games aren’t as good as the old ones,” some just hate his character design, 1990s “attitude,” the other characters, the stories.
 
Regardless, some still like some of his newer games, cartoons, and comics regardless.

let’s make an experiment  
I’m going to draw the exact same thing with the exact same features but in my style and scanned, and see how people react. If it still gets downvoted people hate sonic. If not they don’t some people don’t have the conditions to make good photos / scans.

Just looked at drawings with “Sonic” tag, oh god. Never seen anything more weird than this hate. Why do they even hate him? Sorry, last time I was watching Sonic was when I was like 6 or 8 years old?

It’s probably not the photography, but rather half the internetz still hates Sonic with a burning Robotnik-like passion.

I don’t really get why photo quality should be the reason to downvote. It looks good, upvoted.

Ehhhh… I kinda like this design. It’s actually better then most ponified Sonics. I kinda like keeping some of his hedgehog traits in tact. The mane is nice too.
