Twilight may have been the more accomplished student, but Sunset’s more aggressive approach had left Starlight with no time to devise a counter-strategy. Sunset was rapidly driving her into a corner.
 
Still, she had one trick up her sleave the older student wouldn’t expect. A new spell she had been working on to fracture time, just for a second, so she could choose the optimal outcome. True, it had never been fully tested, but she was Starlight, and she thrived under pressure.
 
The spell fizzled out even as she finished it, leaving her open. Sunset landed the decisive blow, dropping Starlight to her knees.  
The spell suceeded and for a moment everything seemed to stop, giving Starlight just enough time to place the crystal trap around Sunset before time returned to normal.
 
All around them, the walls groaned as if the castle itself were in pain. When it stopped, they could here Twilight yelling from above. “Girls, come quickly! There’s something wrong with the map!”
