Well my little pony isn’t really the menace to society like jersey shore is. Because rather than the show itself being a plague (in fact, MLP probably represents the most goody-goody world you can imagine) its more of the fans that are a plague.
I’m not talking about the little girls, because they’ve done nothing wrong. I’m talking about the bronies. I’m sorry but its true.
@Ottopilot Well, the point remains that even when things ARE considered wrong, there will be those who, espousing to follow that idea, will do them anyway when it benefits them, and condemn it when it does not.
A simple spelling mistake akin to the old stories of misspelling your girlfriend’s name on a tattoo. The second O remains uncapitalized for my own amusement.
@TheAbridgenator I was using murdering and stealing as a arbitrary example to prove the point that there are things that most people would consider wrong and have need for in conventional society not as a literal example. also my username is OttOPilot not Ottoplot because that just seems wrong and people can get the wrong idea with out foreknowledge of it being wrong.
@Ottoplot Even then, the rules of society seem to be a bit, erm, flexible depending on who is trying to flex. People are always willing to kill and steal for their own ends, but since they can’t because of their own rules, they disguise it as something else. Now, I’m a guy who thinks that people need set limits, but the problem arises when those limits are arbitrary, nonsensical, and only apply to those without the agency to bend them. Hence acceptable losses and redistribution by one group being called murder and theft by another.
The people who believe this stuff are for social conformity where everyone must like the same things. They get upset when there are anomalies because they do not understand them even though they too abide by the same set of basic social rules such as not killing or stealing. Even though the reason for the hate and uncertainty is clear it is unwonted and flawed. For a society to progress change has to occur and the people who want to want social conformity will eventually give in or be left behind.
In short the people who believe this are idiots and don’t know what there missing.
@Yorec Those with power are ever afraid to lose it. If gender beliefs change, straight white protestant males will lose their dominance in society, so any “threats” to that dominance, however exaggerated or misinformed, must be stomped out.
Soooo in a world where rapists are considered to be blameless for their actions, the economic structure of the world is as stable as a game of make-believe, atrocities are whitewashed as acceptable losses except when they happen to us, and works of art are exploited for the intent of lunatics and charlatans to keep themselves in power and all others in ruin, the biggest threat to our society…is My Little Pony and its enthusiastic fanbase.
Although if we ARE going to spew nonsense like it was sacrosanct, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Sonic is even worse in that regard. Say what you will about MLPFIM, at least people haven’t committed serious goddamn CRIMES over the show.
The Internet.
Filled with 0% logic and 100% biased opinion

I like that.
MLP didn’t cause them to be like that.

Sad, isn’t it?
Change comes slowly. Very, very slowly.
Well yeah. And it disappoints me greatly that in 2012 people are trying to stick to such antiquated gender beliefs.

I gave it a read.
Really guys, read the article. Trust me, it’s a lot better than you’d think.
