It’s also fanon that these ponies lives as long as, and matures like, humans do. It’s hard to put ages on them.
There seems to be 4 ages:
• foals – CMC, school kids, …
• young adults – mane 6, background ponies, …
• adults – Rarity’s parents, …
• elderly – Granny Smith, …
But the show doesn’t seem to be clear with ages … Shining Armor seems to be older than his father xD

But a sweater is meant to cover up to be warm. A sweater without sleeves; open back or front; kind of defeats the “keeping warm” aspect.
And sweater-dress; an oxymoron. I also find it odd with the combination of sweater and skirt.
When the purpose of the sweater is to excite shut-ins who are too shy to talk with you and instead simply fantasize romance with shy anime girls wearing sweaters, it does not.
I doubt any girl is really putting it on but the idea is quite clear from the name alone (it’s not a joke, the sweater is literally called a ‘male virgin killer’).
