Care to give examples of the show referencing the comics? The comics have to reference the show, where the show can easily ignore the comics without any drawbacks.
I don’t treat them as fandom, fancanon is what I call people’s personal timelines and events.
And I’m willing to agree to disagree.
But to treat them as fanon is also foolish, as they were officially recognised.
Hmmm. How about we agree that the comics are a different timeline to the tv series? I mean, it wouldn’t be the most confusing timeline difference in fiction, and other timelines are canon in the show (which, since it was first, I think should take priority in canonicalization).
And? It’s find to like stuff in the comics and have them co-exist in your fancanon, but treating them as hard canon is foolish.
The comics also have a Nightmare Rarity, where the Nightmare Force survives and possesses Rarity
The comics are semi-canon, since they often conflict with events in the show, like the CMC/Discord comic being released long before they interact in the show, where they aren’t on good terms, or where violence is completely legal as long as it’s directed at ponies and not government buildings.
“Canon” means things that are official in the world of whatever the series is [i.e.: in the Harry Potter world, Hermione Grangers’ parents are dentists], which has the alternate “Fanon”, which is the things added to the world by the fans [like how Hermione Grangers’ parents are named Dan and Emma].
The DWC is the acronym for a certain Comic Publishing company, like DC Comics. What the acronym is short for, I have no Idea.
Edited
What does DWC and canon mean?
Well, aside from the season openings and finales, it’s more of a ‘slice of life’ show, so it won’t likely happen. The movie coming out this year, however… (and it’s not an Equestria Girls). Oh! You can’t forget the DWC Comic series! That is canon.
@Dirty Bit
So do I, which is why I mentioned him. Also it is fun to use an admittedly weak character like Dan, and Demolish the competition.
Hehe, I like Dan Hibiki XD
Burning Celestia needs to be canon.
