Laboribus is Latin for fatigue. A word I heavily associate with this character that I got as a design commission from zizka-von-mikser .
Laboribus was forced into joining the navy as a late teenager to train as an engineer and fighter. Despite his distaste for any form of violence, the thought of leaving his ignorant, overly strict and uncaring auntie behind for good kept him optimistic. He has endured many brutal confrontations during his ten years at sea, leaving him horribly scarred and uncaring himself, almost mirroring the bedevilled relative he had left behind so willingly.
However, his sentence didn’t leave him ignorant and oblivious to the suffering of others, in fact, his compassion and “mother bear” type characteristic have grown due to the pain he went through in battle. He may look stubborn and unnerving, and this is, in fact, true. Over the years at sea his optimistic personality was drained and left his emotions almost barren. However, this doesn’t mean he knows how and when to help others if he feels they cannot do so themselves. He is aged 29 years (taking in consideration the fact that I age my characters as if they’re humans) and enjoys solitude and the gentle sound of the ocean. From the shore, that is.
He occasionally will board a boat, but remains retired and sees no motive for him to return to the navy.
There’s a better picture of him here:
