The males are geared out to handle the worst of the worst predators and poachers, armored and designed to fight and pulverize whatever the siren’s cannot subdue with their songs. Their dorsal crests or sails are hued in color both as a warning to would be predators as well as to attract a life mate. Pups or Hatchling sirens are guarded with the utmost ferocity as even though they are immortal, there are things out in the wild that sustain themselves off siren kind. New members are the security to the pods legacy and the health of the unit under the ruling matriarch.
No worries, that is why I inquired into it.
As for the tech bit, I think I let some fanon fog my memories. Sorry.
The water bit referred to the sirens. I was talking about arrogant elf types as a whole.
I’ve never heard of a story on arrogant water elves, just barely started getting into the silmarillion by JRR Tolkien. Get half way through the fic and tell me what you think then if you are able?
Their species simply exists for themselves and protects their food supplies, but their origins will be a shocker. One deviant yes, Book 2 will cover siren lore a lot better than book 1 so you can make your assumptions then.
Tech embracing however you’ll need to fly by me again, they knew how to use machines to help their performances but we know from the comic that they are willing to adapt if only to get their fans and negative energy. They are not driving cars, using computers, or even utilizing phones. Adagio did her digging in some manner, but they were wanderers looking for power not technology to gain their apex.

As I said in another image, it just takes one deviant.
And the Siren trio don’t seem to be rejecting human tech, even embracing it, in both RR and from what little I read in your fic. I hope your Sirens don’t end up being arrogant holier-than-thou water elves in your fic…
The question to truly ask is, what would an immortal want to do with the short lives and accomplishments of mortals? Having an endless life let’s them see the world for what it is and they are in the fanfic, happy to enjoy the smaller things in life even if it comes with a risk. They are also Poseidon’s creation and are close to being categorized as water spirits, traditional sirens unlike Adagio’s gambit to rule over the ponies prefer the water realm naturally. They are also avatars of disharmony by symbolizing vanity and hunger, but they are blessed enough to see where it would go. Adagio only did what she did as revenge for the ponies poisoning their waters from a coal factory incident. Details after that, but that’s the siren’s of The Sirens Remorse fanfic story about them. Who knows if there are any other sirens in the actual show.
… Forget why don’t they rule the world, why don’t the have an interstellar empire? They’re sapient creatures that have mind control and biological immortality. Nature’s checks and balances are irrelevant in the long term to sapience (humanity is living proof of that), and their immortality means that their only real competition are dragons and alicorns. And with mind control…
You hit the nail with the hammer, the siren in the story do not breed often as it requires a huge amount of negative energy to feed the egg growing in the mother. Not accounting for her own well being in needing the energy herself to stay alive. Adagio and the others in the fanfic are just close to three thousand years old and have not aged a bit in the human world, so suffice to say reaching sexual maturity takes ages and then account for predation by hungry monsters.
There is also the notice that they are indeed immortal. Long lived creatures tend to not have a lot of offspring. {natures way of getting around overpopulation} so it would make sense for them to be ‘overprotective’ since I would assume it takes a while for sirens to mature adequately. That and nature would devise predators that would either be immune to the siren’s powers or were skilled in ambush approaches.
Isn’t nature grand?
Matriarchs rule the pods and their only goal is to preserve and keep safe their fellow sirens. They naturally do not want to rule over prey as they are smart enough to know that keeping a populace nearby intact means a secure food source. Sirens under a good matriarch sing to feed and reproduce sparingly, their diet of seafood from the oceans are more than enough to sustain 70 percent of their livelihood. They are also secretive by nature and establish a territory close to ports and harbors, a little paradise to enjoy. Roving dragons, sea serpents, and all manner of beastly things stalk their prey and themselves thus sirens will often protect a pony or griffon village or town at the cost of their own lives. Primarily also due to their territorial nature, but the sirens song cannot control everything especially mindless creatures of primordial essence. Males known as sirons handle them in coordinated attacks the Matriarch leads, but even then if she cannot use them properly they can die in battle. Their primary predator is the Hammerhead Morey a large sea serpent attracted to magical gems and items, they stalk pods an use their monstrous size to overwhelm sirens. So once a pod has found a spot to claim home, a Morey is usually abound waiting for the right time to attack. There’s a lot more to mention concerning pup mortality rate especially for siren hatchlings, they can overuse their ecnchanted voice too much and exhaust themselves to death.
Well they are immortal. Not only that but the females can pretty much put anyone under a trance (I’m not sure how it affects some and not others. Are they naturally immune?) I’m not sure how exactly strong the males are. What are their limits? Looks like the only danger to them is themselves.
In what sense if I may inquire? They lose members of the pack every so often to roving sea serpents and such, the males are not impervious either just hardened to damage. They also only work with a competent Matriarch leading the pod, if found wanting the pod inevitably dies out.
Very fun.
I love fleshing out magic creatures, the sirens especially.

The adults are her parents, no names have been given to them yet.
Who’s the other siren?
