What @Blissey1 said. The Cadance badge in particular is for netting over 1000 upvotes on any one of your artworks. In this case, you did that on two separate images in a pretty short time span, funny enough.
they’re assigned whenever either a mod notices or someone goes to the badges thread and says “Hey, this guy/I qualifies for x badge!”

Heh, I got what you meant; I was just making a little joke in concurrence that Twilight is the main one of these. Also, I’m not sure that anyone’s willing to go to the trouble of preventing certain images from hitting the trending box, if that can even be done. Especially since it’s fleeting anyhow.
