Which is great and i dont see why people comapre it to sombra not getting much screen time.
 
Since Sombra was meant to be the main antagonistic focus while the Storm king WASNT.
 
He didn’t get much screen time for the same reason Darth Vader gets more screen time than the one pupeteering him.

Yeah, the Storm King, didn’t get much screen time so Tempest made more of a impact as a character.

Now that the movie is out, this is kind of like calling a hairless cancer patient a Bruce Willis wannabe, or telling a crippled kid “Run Forrest run”.

Yeah she wasn’t edgy, she was pretty on point as the second in command villain, definitely one of the highlight characters of the movie.

I read and watched movie reviews from people who weren’t familiar with the show or fandom.
 
No matter how negative these reviews were, I did not see a SINGLE “eww, what’s this edgy pony creator OC doing here?” complaint like all the bronies did when Tempest was first revealed.
 
This shows that this “edgy OC” complaint is a brony-exclusive one, and thus not a valid complaint.
 
So all you “ow the edge” folk can just off.

I didn’t see the last few EQG movies and will probably skip this movie. Not feeling too excited with what I’ve seen so far :/

Then I hope the movie carries in a lot of new people who bring new positivity into the fandom. That and the burn from the recent episode might finally change the fandom’s cynical “Everything’s bad!” attitude again.

I’m not sure. “Edgy characters” aren’t exclusive to the brony fandom any more than differences in style. The Sonic people, are a good example.
 
However, I think that these things won’t make a difference in how popular the movie is because most people, within the fandom or not, just don’t care about those.

The comments here are the reason why I think mainstream audiences are going to ironically hate the movie less than the brony fandom will.
 
They aren’t going to be familiar with such “edgy OCs” you keep comparing Tempest to, so they’re not going to see her as looking like an edgy OC. They’re just gonna see her as looking like a typical villain.
 
This applies to every other thing you’ve complained about, like Starlight appearing, bipedal anthropomorphic animals being introduced, etc. Mainsteam audiences who haven’t watched the show aren’t going to care.
