Was about to ask what this was all from, but then I looked at the tags a little more closely. This whole conversation isn’t exactly what I’d call a glowing recommendation, so I’m just going to take this picture as an isolated shipping image.

It’s quite obvious that Billy’s whole plan was to destroy Dash’s and Gilda’s relationship, and it worked.

Yes it is, because outside of the game, you know they are a total dirtbag. You can function and learn how they play in practice, but you do not socialize with them outside of the game.
 
Gilda is sharp, dangerous even, and her and dash NEVER got along with the jocks, not when they were youngsters and not when they were older. The idea that they were “close” at any point in time, much less “knocking boots”?
 
It makes me feel very strongly that the writer does not understand the characters and it sours my views very badly.

Is it even possible to not socialize with people you’re on a foot hoofball team with? Dash got pissy about that, and Gilda shut her down.

See, this is the one part of dash academy I really didn’t like, and not in a “man that’s harsh” way, but a ‘that doesn’t make any sense” way.
 
Gilda socializing with THOSE guys? She wouldn’t and it’s really jarring to even think about at any depth.

She knows they’ve been feuding, but she doesn’t know that Billy’s the one who convinced the coach not to let Dash on the team by lying to his uncle.
 
Not to mention that before this scene he provokes Gilda into hitting him, plays himself up as the victim when she attempts to do so, makes her feel guilty, and works in several insults toward Rainbow - including what could easily be considered a homophobic remark - and starts actively trying to convince Gilda to cut ties with her. She lets this all go and even seems ready to have sex with him about two seconds later after he makes a hollow promise to give Dash another try at friendship.
 
So yeah, Billy is an asshole of the highest caliber and is playing Gilda like a fiddle.

Gilda’s the only one who knows what’s going on with both of them. She’s not being manipulated at all.
 
And Billy and Crash had obviously been obsessively feuding with each other for, what, probably 8 or 9 years, depending on how ponyschool works?

Billy goes out of his way to make RD’s life miserable and manipulated Gilda into resenting her completely, he’s pretty much a textbook example of a toxic relationship.
