This is pretty much true, and this is from someone who hates the FiM fanbase, but then again, this show was intended for 2-12 year old girls, NOT 18+ men.

Hmm. I’m a closet idiot. I don’t try to make people like mlp, but I do try to get my friends to respect the show.

@solinrain: We could aslo define the idiot by the one who are rude when trying to force people watch it, or defending it. That way your definition of usefull vocal fan can be dissociate from the idiots. Tell people to watch mlp, tell them it’s awesome and post some ponies content on a unrelated sites is one thing. Go telling everyone that they are stupid for not liking it and made goodwin points on the hatedom(Unless they bring it first) is another.
 
For me I’m not sure, I’m not the kind of person that boast himself by saying ‘‘I’m a good fan’’. Maybe I’m somewhere in the middle between brony and idiot, I don’t especially look for conflict, but sometime when it come to me, there is times I can’t resist.

Ok. But i still think the fandom owes more to “idiots” than most people expect.
 
The homages (and publicity) we got from several sites including Colberts Report are mostly thanks to a giant wave of pony spam on their sites.
 
It might not be pretty but it gave bronies the media attention that later turned into Hasbro attention.  
And this turned into more merch.
 
in fact those cool large vinyl figures of RD and Derpy might just be the work of several dozens of said “idiots”.
 
As for rubbing MLP into peoples faces… well i can’t be held accountable for how other people act. I just think some people need more than one hint.

No, that’s not the same, it’s if you made your point and the person understands it but still doesn’t care to look at it AND you keep bugging them to witch it.  
I can put it like this, I never had a problem with it at all, in fact no one tried to get me to look at it, but if someone did and I was from the start not interested and never looked at them as odd and they still bugged me to watch it and like it when i didn’t want to then they would be part of the idiot group, not the brony group.

If i was a skilled artist and made pony art/plushies or even pony tentacle porn then i’d still need people to watch/buy it. Obviously the vocals will act as my white knights and main source of comments compared to the silent types who don’t rub MLP in peoples faces.  
Also the batshit crazy ones are more likely to buy prints/plushies compared to the silent types who most likely will be content with a set of blindbag mane 6.

The problem here is… sometimes you actually have to rub it in peoples faces (especially at the beginning) due to the “ponies for girls and faggots” stigma before someone realizes G4 is not entirely rainbow pooping bullshit.

It’s not abut the vocal memebers, it’s about the ones that can’t understand that not everyone likes ponies.  
Going around and suggesting to see it to people who may like it, not pestering them about it, and having fun with others that like it is the ones it means by brony, not the ones that get upset over people not liking it, even hating it, and keep trying to get others to see it even when they don’t want to.

@Sonlirain I think we make an important distinction between artists (drawings, paintings, plushies, music, fanfics) and people trying over and over again to get someone to watch the show who doesn’t want to.

Sadly the brony idiots are probably one of the bigger reasons this show is what it is.
 
If everyone were silent then there would be FAR less skins pony mods and merch flying around.
 
Let’s face it the only reason this fandom came to be is due to the more vocal people.
