Agreed 100%. I’m sorry to say, but I’m starting to feel like the brony fanbase has gone from one of the most “tolerable/friendly” fanbases I’ve ever been in to one of the most negative now.
 
Though, to be fair, Cadance was pretty hated shortly before she was introduced, and some still hate her now to this day. (Even slapping the “Mary-Su” label on her. Though, honestly she doesn’t appear often enough to be one, and rarely ever fixes everything.)  
In fact, some hated her & Shining Armor so much, they’re pretty much the reason they started hating the entire show, and fandom. Much like how Glimmer turned some fans away from the show/fanbase, as well.

In all honestly, since “mary sue” has been so overused and so often misapplied, it pretty much just means “character I hate” now. If you want to go by the original definition, the character who’s actually closest to meeting it is Cadance, one of the least-hated MLP characters in the fandom.
 
Much as with Jay Fosgitt, the name “Derpy”, and a handful of other fandom controversies, the arguments about GlimGlam has become so poisoned with absolutes and insults that it’s all but impossible to have any meaningful discussion about what’s actually good and bad about her.

Not to mention some, where she has little, or no dialogue when she does appear.

Like “Mary-Su,” “Cringeworthy” has lost all it’s meaning as both terms are just thrown around at everything somebody doesn’t like.
 
To be honest, I was never bothered by that episode either. I was more-so bugged by “Pony Point of View” sense it kinda made my top 3 ponies (AJ, Rares, and Ponkie) a li’l too petty, a li’l too nasty to each other, and a bit Flanderized. You’d think they’d know each other better by now then the way they acted in said ep’.

I fully respect the opinions of others, but this instance constitutes a lie because no character in the show comes close to fitting that description. We have either characters who are noticeably flawed (i.e. the mane 7, the CMC) or characters that are not developed enough to be judged with such a label (i.e. the background ponies). Let’s not forget one of the major draws of the show from the very start was the fact that all the major characters had both strengths and weaknesses, after all.
