This is why I never watch Tom and Jerry. The picture explains why.

You have to keep in mind though that if it weren’t for Tom and Jerry, we would not have Hanna Barbera with shows like the Flinstones or Jetsons since that’s a studio made by the same people who made Tom and Jerry. Also, if not for Hanna Barbera, there would be no Cartoon Network with shows like Cow and Chicken, Ed Edd n Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo and Dexter’s Laboratory, most of which were made at Hanna Barbera studios. Whether you like Tom and Jerry or not, it was an important piece in animation history.

I always wondered since last year what would happen if his scream was instead replaced with cat yowls and hisses each time he got hurt.

Then turn the volume down some, I know of more modern shows that can go from heard to hear at all to ear piercing in less then a second.
Something this old you have to have have the volume high for it to be too loud as they know not to be both too low or too high, so they stan in a good range.

I find the sound level change very annoying, especialy when it switches at the ad breaks eg:

“I..I’m Fluttershy..[squeak] [wimmper]”

“HI! I’M BARRY SCOTT! BANG! AND THE DIRT IS GONE!”

Yes. I’m more of a guy who likes quiet things but hearing that scream is too loud for my ears

Idea! Get one of those “use your own sound” alarm clocks (your phone or something), never be late again! (you’ll never sleep, afraid of when that sound will occur!)

Pah! OP should have seen the later ones with the surreal, unearthly sounds and bad animation (60s and 70s I think?) now they were scary stuff!
