That’s a good question. Since we really don’t know if Equestria’s sun works any differently compared to ours, it could be. What we need is an official younger Celestia, and what her magic looked liked before she took over the sun handling duties.

Well, that lavender sun lends credence to Twilight replacing Celestia.
Thats an interesting idea actually - is there some link between the golden sun in Equestria and Celestia’s golden magic?

If you take the title at full value, then Twilight could be raising the sun. And Flurry is enjoying watching it.

But I can’t say for sure. I asked the same qustion to the artist on Deviantart, and so far, no answer.
