In my headcanon, Iridia is both the creator of all living creatures, especially the ponies that reside in Equus. While ponies are the dominant species, Iridia will take the form of other sentient beings and appear to those beings as well. She created the original alicorn race, which both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna would hail from, and is also the mentor to her disicple of Faust. Not many ponies in Equestria still believe in her as she’s long been replaced by Faust, but ponies still in the Crystal Empire and Ponyland consider her their goddess.
