In addition to what was said earlier, it was never shown that the princesses had their magic sealed (and it would have been a horrible idea, as well). It wouldn’t be the first time that any of them had slow reaction time to something.

The analogy’s there though: lighting the flame secretly for Spike is a sort of deception even if Twilight did it to save face for him.
 
Maybe I’m alone in thinking that Luna’s reaction was to Twilight’s intervention, but without her pinpointing the source.

Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve seen this episode, but… weren’t all unicorns/alicorns “stripped” of their magic before entering the games? How can Twilight use her magic? I mean, the whole deal about the impending doom of the ice cloud was that even the princesses couldn’t help because they’d had their magic abilities nullified to prevent cheating.

Thread Starter - Artists you miss.

Well I guess she has displayed elemental magic to some extent.
 
I won’t say completely until I see her use her horn like a flamethrower tho.
