I was about 8 when I played a nasty prank on my dad. He just happened to have a Hot Wheels track in his hand (they were about 3 feet long back then). You could play with little cars on my ass for about a week after that.

My father had a paddle. It was a moderately-sized, thick, flat, lacquered wooden paddle that he carved, sanded and lacquered himself from a block of wood. Had three 2cm holes through its middle, and on the non-impact side was woodburned in beautiful cursive: “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. -Proverbs 13:24”
