Edit: okay so I was thinking of the wrong disease xD it was chicken pox I meant but thought of measles because of the red dots.This was my first thought when I saw the scene in the hospital. I don’t think vaccinations exist in Equestria and I’m thinking that Horsey Hives are the same as measles so very contagious to children and even adults if they haven’t had them yet.Seems that will be the last time Twilight can babysit without doing research first xD For being a smart pony, she don’t have much knowledge about foals.
The word “hives” is part of the name, not just that it is hives, and it never said definitive about if it was or wasn’t contagious.
But what it does give us makes it very unlikely it’s not because, as a said, the chances of all of them having the same allergic reaction is very unlikely.
Hell look at a transcripts and you will see that statement of the episode itself saying it is false.

Yeah those might be allergic reactions to the poisons but you didn’t saw the fillies scratch at them so that meant it wasn’t an allergic rash they had. If it was an allergy then they should’ve been scratching the whole time.

There is things that most humans are allergic, like mosquito bites and poson ivy.
Sounds more like the equestrian equivalent of chicken pox. I doubt that every single filly in the class is allergic to the same thing.

Discord can get sick, so perhaps there are a few rare ones they can obtain.
