anyways the fact that Hasbro makes this world sentient race all be related to equines one way or another, then we have all these other sentient races with their culture, but no, not a Giraffe? They come from the same place Zecora does, this is stupid!
 

Maybe like Twilight, animals can “ascend” and grow wings or horns, which give them access to magic. And unlike real life, animals such as deer don’t have sexual dimorphism, which would stop female deer from having them, and, would cause them to shed their antlers seasonally. Plus, I think animals such as elephants and boars should be able to conduct magic through their tusks. But what role might rhinos and narwhals play? Such possibilities that the writers have squandered….

Well if more zebras moved to Equestria and adopted their customs, they wouldn’t be considered exotic foreigners, just like how African Americans aren’t considered exotic.

Not really, no, at least not in the US demographics sense.
 
Zecora is an exotic foreigner, not a member of a known subaltern group. Donkeys are a closer match to black Americans, I think, even though they don’t have any of Zecora’s African elements.

Striped lives don’t matter.

Here we see two members of the rival factions involved in the “Stripes v Spots” war.  
Sadly the Giraffe faction simply could not survive against the Zebra faction and their mastery of combat potions.  
During the hight of the conflict, the Zebras attempted to create a Poison Joke based communication disrupting weapon. Those (on both sides) who survived it’s deployment had their powers of speech distorted or lost entirely.

Humans are more closely related to lemurs than horses are to giraffes, so non-talking giraffes isn’t that surprising to me. Now tapirs and rhinoceroses are much closer to horses, so questions continue.
 
Of course, the talking cows kinda ruin phylogenetic headcannon.
 
On the other hand, maybe giraffes are sapient, but they’re just mute. You know, cause giraffes.

Seeing this reminds me of when I worked at the zoo. The giraffes were all super friendly, but the zebras were huge jerks.
