Ah there we go.

I feel as though I should also share my artist tag, but I’m using a different name just so I can have a bit of freedom and not worrying too much about my reputation… eh.

Luna’s sprite might also have single pixels, but even that was very unusual. They did it to try to fake transparencies on a file format that had very limited support for it. Even then, it kinda looks ugly as it puts so many dots in your face. Many professional pixel artists avoid dithering because dithering can potentially create single pixels that just distract and put some silly artificial checkerboard in your face. I wouldn’t use their Luna sprite as an example to follow imo. Their sprite would probably look more beautiful if they use a solid color instead of a magic checkerboard of pixelly-ness.

In pixel art, it is best to avoid single-pixel noise unless individual pixels can stand for very small but important details. Single pixels have a tendency to attract attention and can distract from the focus from a peice. In pixel art, you often have to toss out details and stylize if there are less important small details that simply won’t fit if you are working at a small enough scale.

If it doesn;t look good at the correct size, then it shouldn;t be visible at all. Alternatively, I edit it and give it a shot.

@Starly and sixtyfour
I didn’t particularly like having to use single pixels for the freckles/stubble either, but it looked even WORSE with bigger pixels. Lesser of two evils
(don’t take it personally, BronyHeresy; I actually like your OC’s overall design)
