I get that she doesn’t have parents, But you don’t yell at her cause she probably thought she was trying to do something nice for you. Plus she’s a child. It wasn’t like she was trying to intentionally ruin your life. Bringing up the fact that she’s an orphan isn’t going to help the situation.

I know this is supposed to be sad, but just the delivery is hilarious.

Big family = two parents who are gallivanting around Equestria and left Scoots in charge of her aunt and her aunt’s roomie. Whose idea of caretaking is living out of town and subbing the job out to whatever volunteers in Ponyville they can get.
 
As I said before, for all the parenting Scootaloo is getting, she may as well be an orphan.

All fans who expect that Scootaloo is an orphan must be feel quite akward when they knew she belong to a pretty big family xD

Specifically - They work demanding jobs and Scoots is good at evading her babysitter. Faust doesn’t understand why people take it to a bad place.
 
Then she and Big Jim had a sweet little Twitter exchange where Jim promised to do what he could to keep it true, and that he was just custodian of the world she created.
 
 
Even ignoring all that, we can logically infer that unlike for the Apples, it actually makes no sense for Scootaloo to be an orphan - We’ve seen her house and room, and we can also observe she’s clearly having a normal childhood. It would furthermore make 2/3 of the CMC orphans, which is incredibly farfetched.

Much like a verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, what staff say makes no difference to the universe they create. That goes triple for Lauren since she hasn’t been part of the creative staff for years.
 
Canon is what’s published in official works. Until we see it on-screen one way or the other, we just don’t know.

I think Lauren Faust said at a convention panel that Scootaloo does have parents, but they’re just so far unseen in the show.

i think her parents are just travelling all the time so she practically lives alone. I think one of the creators of the show said that.
