True, he has cut down on the bipedal poses that seem to trigger bronies so much.
Honestly, I was never that bothered by that, especially considering nobody cares when fanartists do them, and such. (Even the show has been guilty of it at times.)
My only problem with Fosgitt honestly is, some of his non-pony animals look weird sometimes. (Like the giraffe, and vampire Winona here.) Though, I like how pissed off he makes Angel look though.
@FrzGT
Not true. The bipedal walking gone way down.
Edited
Look at that disgusting bipedal Sweetie Belle swing pose there. Literally unwatchable, show ruined forever.
Artists are expected to improve over time.
Fosgitt has little to none.
Again?
Bonnie wept, get the buck over it already– this is beyond tedious.
Agreed.
Also, Winona is a vampire.
I see it often enough in regular non-vector fan art that I’m perfectly fine with it, but these are pretty sloppy perspective-wise.
I take it, you’re refering to the “Greta,” & “Grandpa Gruff” thing? It’s possible, they gave him wrong reference, gave them names from the show, or other things that might not be entirely his fault. (I’m tired of repeating myself, as I’ve discussed this many times before.) As the writer & editor basically tell him what to draw, and such. (Much like how like it was writer Ted Anderson’s idea to put that OC in, not the artist Ben Bates’ fault. Though, let’s not get into that old drama.)
Still, I don’t think that alone makes him an “evil person,” or anything like some act like whether or not that was his fault. I still like his other art for other issues.
In fact, somebody here said Fosgitt’s Greta & Gruff were made before the show ones, so they might’ve just slipped the names in before the episode aired, or when the comic was finished. So it might just be IDW’s fault, rather then just Fosgitt alone. They could’ve just been different characters originally for all we know. (Not to mention Gruff was never actually mentioned by name in said issue.)
Funny thing is, I actually liked his chubby Greta better then the “generic Gilda griffon OC clone from DeviantArt” design she had in the show. I think I’m the only one who feels that way. lol

No, it isn’t drawing just like the show. It’s mainly the anatomical rules he breaks honestly.
Honestly people would probably give Fosgitt less crap if he weren’t so blatant with things, and inexplicable in how he does things. He will Google something to “reference” a fan work or use a not-for-commercial-use piece of clip art, but won’t Google characters he’s supposed to draw? It’s baffling.
I think what it comes down to is, some basically think, “he doesn’t draw almost exactly like the show, so it’s bad.”
That’s actually disheartening for me to see as an artist that bronies basically only want one art style, or want everything to almost look all the same. Personally, that’s actually why I like Fosgitt’s stuff. He draws ponies in his own style, but I disagree they’re completely & always “off,” as I do see hints of the Lauren Faust show style in his art too. (Like the characters having big eyes, tiny snouts, but a bit cartoonier, and more chibi, and Pogo the possum-like.)
I’m not saying the more “on model” or show style is bad, but I like seeing a change of pace sometimes, and Fosgitt is almost the only change of pace I see in the comic. I understand his style isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s not quite as good as his earlier issues, but I just wish people would give his better stuff a chance (like his “Goonies” parody MLP cover) or hold artists to the same standards, or give different styles a chance.
On the other hand, if you look at Fosgitt’s earlier stuff in his artist tag, they barely had any problems, or any drama/complaints. So I’m curious what gives.
Hey, I’ll admit that Price actually got better at drawing Spike over time. I’ll concede that many of those aren’t very good but I suppose Fosgitt crosses a certain line.
I honestly don’t see how this stuff is “better.” As you can see, even the more “beloved” artists aren’t always perfect either.
(That last one mocking Andy Price’s Spike was ironically uploaded by you, I noticed.)
Yeah, the Daring Do & Fluttershy issue was undoubtedly his worst.
I reiterate that when you do slightly better work than someone, even if you aren’t very good, you get comparatively little criticism compared to the person doing worse than you.
The show’s guilty of that kinda thing too actually. The CMC at times are small enough to stand on their sister’s backs, then other times, they’re almost as big as they are. So it’s kinda ironic to only critique Fosgitt for things the show, and other IDW artists are guilty of too.
And honestly, I don’t see how that Agnes page I posted below is any better then the above image in regards to “anatomy,” and such. I think she half-asses stuff more then Fosgitt does.
I’m not denying sometimes Fosgitt is off at times, (like that Daring Do & Fluttershy issue) but i’m pointing out other IDW artists half-ass things too, or draw entire panels/pages badly too, and nobody cares. It just seems like double-standards.
Edited
Honestly I barely noticed that given that Angel Bunny apparently grew three feet.
Hell, if you want to get technical, that’s exactly what the show does for every single character.
Tony Fleecs uses CM clip art too.
I do agree the application here is sloppier than we’ve seen, no question, but using clip art for CM is a completely valid short cut when done right.

The problem is that they’re artists who have a decent understanding of cartooning/anatomy/MLP and only varying degrees of care. Regardless of whether Fosgitt really cares or he phones it in it just kind of looks…off.
@Dustcan
I’m not attacking anyone. I’m criticizing his work in relationship to the work of other artists on the comics.
Edited
So much for not attacking the artists themselves huh?
Honestly, I think I’ll take Fosgitt over Agnes, Tony, and some others like whoever did the Twilight micro issue personally.

@Beau Skunky
I guess it pays to be the second or third worst person at your job.
I don’t mind it either, but Bloom’s does look a bit off, and not resized/perspectived properly. So it does look a bit hurried. So I can see why it bugs some people. …Still, some take it to far, due to their bias against Fosgitt’s controversial art style, and just seem to be looking for any excuse to complain rather then critique.
I wouldn’t mind the Fosgitt drama, if people at least held other artists to similar standards.
Others like Agnes here get no complaints whatsoever, and honestly I feel she’s worse then he is. (Though, sometimes she can make good covers, and such. So I’m not trying to hate on her. I just don’t get why Fosgitt is the only IDW artist lately that gets any criticism or drama. It almost makes me miss the Tony Fleecs drama, and he was also guilty of using “clip art.”)
