your current filter.A simple way to look at this is that it’s a different society. In some modern and past societies adulthood was reached in an earlier age.
According to Ishi Rudell Sunset is around 18.
They occupy an odd space in terms of writing: they’re clearly shown to be adults who have jobs and live independently, but they’ve always been meant to have the emotional development of older children. Celestia was meant to be the mother figure for all of them, till the show got hit on the head and almost forgot that she exists.
Let’s face it. Most of the ponies are not adults, including the Mane 7.
