Well, Juniper was meant to be more of a smaller threat given the special’s run time. I wasn’t expecting anything big.

I think Juniper might have been meant to be lower-stakes than her predecessors, since she was only the villain for an episode-length special rather than a full direct-to-video movie.

At least Sunset Satan, Midnight Sparkle, and Gaea Everfree had powers, were a threat, and had to be stopped by powerful magic. Juniper Monstar just grows twice as huge, walks around, imagines people adoring her, gets her mirror (the only power she actually has) swiped by someone who only just learned to walk on two legs, chases her around for a bit, and then gets redeemed in an anticlimactic fashion.
 
So yeah…Sunset Satan seems like an upgrade compared to this.

Well, glad I am not a person judging every movie and stuff for cliche.

Oh that would make my year. The last seasons reignited my interest in the pony side of things, but I’m a huge fan of EqG despite not being a fan of Sunset. If that ever turned into a spinoff show I would probably die from happiness.

Wait, do we actually have EqG5 to look forward to? I was under the impression that they were going to judge the receprion of these specials and then decide whether to keep on EqGing.

It does it’s job pretty well, but I can imagine someone flipping the table in rage and annoyance the fifth time it happens.
 
 
And given that we still have EqG 5 to look forward to, I’d say we’ll have to wait and see how that turns out. ;)

I think this cliche works pretty well because it’s a neat way to exaggerate a character’s flaws and present them with a flashy “alternate form” that reflects them as well. Nearly every EqG villain gets a brief chance to be a supervillain for a scene. Kinda cool. At this point if this was certainly continuing I would be seeing new villains and anticipating what their magical form would be like, like it’s an aspect of every villain in the spinoff.

This sums up my thoughts on the she-demon cliche perfectly! 😆
 
Although to be fair, Juniper was more of a weak ass mini she-demon compared to the previous three.

I can understand if this Equestria Girls cliché is a turnoff for some people, but on the plus side, there IS one difference: Juniper Monstar’s straight up MASSIVE!

I’m assuming this is from his Suicide Squad review because I have not seen it and I don’t remember this joke
