Personally, while I like the taste of strawberry-flavored foods, I find strawberries themselves to be far too sweet to actually enjoy.  
As with apples, I like some kinds, but most certainly not all.
 
Though, if I had to pick my personal favorite fruit, it’d be tangerines. Or maybe hmmmmm.. Bananas?

So many of the backround ponies are overly pleasant and cheery, seeing one with just a bit of attitude is actually kinda nice

Regarding the Watsonian perspective, that was what my wife immediately conjectured after the episode! It’s fascinating. :)

Looking at it from the Doylist perspective, Strawberry Sunrise was a jerk because Applejack needed to be held up to a mirror and shown how her stubbornness and bluntness was hurting other ponies.
 
What’s hilarious is when you look at it from the Watsonian perspective. Rarity chose to take Applejack to meet Strawberry Sunrise because somehow, at some point, Rarity had met her and knew that she (1) hated apples, and (2) had no sense of tact. Apparently Rarity had been keeping this little tidbit of info under wraps for just the time she thought it’d be useful.

Same; Apples do have a nice taste (especially the crisp ones like people around here have said), but I’ve always found it awkward eating one (trying to get my mouth and teeth around it for instance)

Other ones, that kind of grainy, are not so nice. (bleh)

I used to share Strawberry Sunrise’s opinion about apples. At that point, though, I had only ever tried the Red Delicious cultivar. I had no idea that apples could be fantastic! (like Honeycrisp)
