To be honest, I’d think MLP OCs are generally better designed than a couple pawfuls of other miscellaneous ones I’ve seen before. ^_^
I think I’m just too out of step with fandom culture to really get what the objections are.
It depends on the person and their experiences, perhaps. For all my years on the internet, I’ve not really developed many reasons to hate anything. :j

I guess I’m just not coming from the same place as other people in the fandom. I think the image is cute. So, whatever.
It’s just that, nowadays, an “edgy OC” is just a Mary Sue waiting to happen, and one can’t get “edgier” than “black bat pony with a fedora and hoodie who is the reason a canon character became who they are”, it’s a textbook example of a self-insert character, which are generally hated throughout every fandom.

True, the image quality is okay. I’ve disliked it because of self-insertion into the series story.
There’s a black bat pony OC with a black fedora and hoodie. I think that’s where most of the dislike comes from. His appearance alone is that of a generic “Edgy OC”.
