@Greenjack
That’s exactly it! I didn’t detail it particularly well I think, but you might notice that a little center piece that pops up, with the circle in the middle? It’s like a little IR scope that’s better protected from dirt and sand and stuff than a bigass visor. The visor itself is used both for vision and to help give her a little more emotion via the “eyes.”
And yeah, a big part of the character concept is really pushing the contrast between an artificial lifeform and a “normal” one. So she has extremely animated body language, a very “expressive” set of eyes, etc. But her voice comes out of the wrong olace and other than her eyes she doesn’t really express emotion in her face because, well, it’s a bunch of metal plates. If I ever get the time I’d love to animate her and get someone to voice her, to really bring her to life, but I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon.
@Testostepone
Neat design! I was going to ask why you have her speakers in her ears and her microphones in her jawline, but then I noticed you were intentionally designing her to give characters interacting with her a bit of the “uncanny valley” feel, and that was exactly why I would have criticized this design choice, so kudos! That’s definitely something that’d give me the uncanny valley vibe, but not enough-so for me to be horribly repulsed!
Also, I wonder how you handle her vision. Does she see through her eye screen? If so, how does she see when the visor is down? Does she have an IR camera for low-light conditions?
@Background Pony #5CC7
Nah nah, I definitely see the resemblance. Besides some of the plating, they have a very similar silhouette. Runtime’s a little more grounded in the direction of this century, though. The Cyber Ponies are extremely scifi with lots of smooth curves and glowing lights, which is another aesthetic I’m a big fan of. I think it’s pretty cool that they’re so similar, actually. It’s kinda like looking at an alternate reality where I took the design in a different direction. I’m gonna have to track down the artist’s blog and say hi.
Feel free to draw her! Just remember to give me a link so I can post it on my blog. : > As for how she’d react? Well, she doesn’t really process things with any kind of emotionally negative response, so she’d probably just resort to being a good-natured pain in the ass once she realized her new friend wasn’t so friendly. Lots of getting in the way and pranking, for sure.
I’m glad you like her! I designed her with some input from fans in a stream a little while ago, and so many people have been really positive about her. It’s a great feeling : > Have fun with her!
@Testostepone
Oh, glad you liked them. I was afraid I was unconsiderate or something, implying that you copied or something (Which was NOT my intention at all). I only said that because both are robots and the look of the back armour plates.
Maybe I should draw them together. It would be great, don’t you think?
How will your cute OC react to a jerk Cyber-pony? Like, a puppy-like robot almost twice as big as a hardened soldier (kinda).
Your OC is sooo adorable…

Yooo I’ve never seen that before! That’s awesome.

This one looks complete, complex and nice.
