Probably translated baby talk. Just like what they did with Rugrats and in some other shows.
In fact Applejacks birth certificate was the second time we saw her as a baby the first time had the Old design.
It’s just weird they updated AppleJack when they technically didn’t need to but it didn’t update the cake twins and continue to make new foals was the old design.
Doesn’t help that they put the designs for my next to each other at one point
Seriously. They had a perfectly adorable, non-creepy version they used for Flurry and for AJ’s birth certificate. And they could have remodeled the cake twins to let them visually age a tiny bit. Whyyyyyyyy.
I thought the picture was cute enough to use as my icon.

i think the real weird part is that despite using the body for newborn babies the two talk like adults
